Job summary

Sodexo Group is recruiting a Domestic Assistant at Constantine House in Ipswich. You will help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, staff and visitors in the hospital setting.

The role focuses on high standards of cleanliness and infection-control tasks performed in the evenings, with weekly hours of 15. You’ll work under COSHH regulations, handle waste properly, and collaborate with colleagues to support health and wellbeing initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning roles and knowledge of cleaning methods.
• COSHH and Health & Safety practices are expected.
• Attention to detail and high cleanliness standards are required.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities are important.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently.
• Positive, reliable and professional approach; able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily cleaning tasks including mopping, vacuuming, dusting, waste disposal, and replenishing supplies.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in line with local specifications.
• Perform discharge, deep-clean and infection-control cleaning as required.
• Follow schedules, complete documentation, and ensure procedures are followed.
• Safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment per COSHH.
• Report faults, hazards, accidents or incidents promptly.
• Keep cupboards, equipment and stock organized and secure.
• Dispose of general and clinical waste correctly.
• Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.

What you’ll do:

• Carry out daily cleaning tasks including mopping, vacuuming, dusting, waste disposal, and replenishing supplies.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in line with national cleaning specifications.
• Complete discharge, deep-clean, and infection-control cleaning tasks as required.
• Follow cleaning schedules, complete documentation, and ensure compliance with procedures.
• Safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment in line with COSHH regulations.
• Report faulty equipment, hazards, accidents, or incidents promptly.
• Ensure cleaning cupboards, equipment, and stock levels are maintained and organised.
• Remove and dispose of general and clinical waste correctly.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to support a safe and welcoming environment. Follow all health & safety, safeguarding, infection prevention, and confidentiality requirements.

What you bring:

• Previous cleaning experience. Knowledge of cleaning methods, COSHH, and Health & Safety practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high standards.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.
• A positive, reliable, and professional approach.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/5 or equivalent).
