Job summary

NTW Solutions Limited is seeking a Domestic Assistant to help keep hospital environments clean for patients, visitors and staff. This part-time role is 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a Band A rate of £12.92 per hour and a 25% enhancement for Saturday/Sunday hours. The annual pro rata pay is around £25,272.

You will join NHS services and be enrolled into the NTW pension scheme; DBS clearance may be required and full training is provided.

Qualifications

  • Basic literacy and numeracy are required.
  • Willingness to learn and follow safety notices.
  • Previous cleaning experience welcomed but training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out cleaning tasks in offices, public areas, wards and bedrooms.
  • Dust, polish, hoover, mop floors and maintain cleanliness standards.
  • Support infection control and liaise with clinical staff as needed.

Job overview

Our team of Domestics keep our buildings clean and tidy and provide a great service to patients, visitors and staff. You could be cleaning a hospital ward, patient bedroom or office areas and corridors.
Because we provide services to the NHS your work supports better patient care. It’s important work and you will need to take pride in what you do and complete tasks to a high standard.
If you are on a hospital ward you will be working alongside patients who have mental health illness, learning disabilities or brain injuries. You could be cleaning their rooms and the shared areas on the ward and you will get to know them and the clinical staff and you’ll feel part of the team. It can be a real challenge working on wards like these but we also know that our staff find it rewarding

Main duties of the job

Carrying out a range of cleaning tasks inareas such as offices and meeting rooms,public areas such as corridors, receptions and cafésareas which patients use such as shared spaces on wards as well as bedrooms, bathrooms and toilets.
Cleaning tasks can include things likedusting of walls, ceilings and curtain rails,dusting and polishing of furniture and paintwork,hoovering of carpets,mopping floors.

Pay: Band A (£12.92 per hour)

We pay 25% enhancement, time and a quarter, on hours worked during a Saturday and Sunday.

Please note that all jobs will be appointed on the NTW Solutions Limited terms and conditions (not NHS/A4C terms).

If you currently work for NTW Solutions on AfC terms and conditions, you will be given the choice to retain these or move onto NTW Solutions terms and conditions. Please note that the above advertised salary will not apply if you choose to remain on AfC. Anyone currently paying into the NHS Pension scheme will be able to retain this.

Person specification
Experience
  • Any previous cleaning experience is welcome but we will train you fully if you don’t have any experience (it is an essential requirement of this job to either have experience or be willing to learn)
Skills & Knowledge
  • An ability to lift and move a variety of equipment such as trolleys, floor polishing equipment and hoovers
  • Ability to adhere to standards and procedures and to accept and prioritise instructions
  • An ability to be flexible and able to adapt to new or different working practices, or work in other departments to meet the needs of the service
  • An ability to communicate well with others such as other colleagues, clinical staff, or patients
  • Able to work well as part of a team but also to work unsupervised
  • Able to work alongside patients who might display challenging or upsetting behaviour
  • You will need to be able to meet the mobility requirements of the job
Education & Qualifications
  • In order to follow safety notices and work with cleaning products you will need basic levels of literacy and numeracy (this is an essential requirement of this job)

All jobs will be appointed on the NTW Solutions Limited terms and conditions and not NHS Agenda for Change terms and conditions. New starters who are not in the NHS Pension already will be enrolled into a NEST pension.

Recruitment into NTW Solutions Limited will follow the principals of NHS Employer Check Standards and any relevant employment legislation.
