Job summary

NTW Solutions is seeking a Catering Assistant at St Nicholas Hospital, Newcastle, working 37.5 hours per week in a NHS environment. The role operates on a 2-week rota with shifts 10:00–18:00 and weekend patterns as described.

You will handle basic food preparation, packing, cleaning in a chilled environment, and manual handling with deliveries, while supporting patient meal service and ward catering.

Qualifications

• An ability to communicate well with others such as colleagues, clinical staff, or patients.
• Able to work well as part of a team but also to work unsupervised.
• Ability to adhere to standards and procedures and to accept and prioritise instructions.
• Must be able to meet the mobility requirements of the post.
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety (training provided).

We are recruiting to the Team at St Nicholas Hospital to work within our friendly Catering Department.

This post is offered at - 37.50 hours per week

• Any previous service industry experience (D) (but we will train you fully if you don’t have any experience)
• Previous experience of stock control

Qualifications

• You don’t need any formal qualifications for this job, but a certificate in hygiene is desirable. You will be trained in food hygiene and health and safety as part of the role.

All jobs will be appointed on the NTW Solutions Limited terms and conditions and not NHS Agenda for Change terms and conditions. New starters who are not in the NHS Pension already will be enrolled into a NEST pension.

Recruitment into NTW Solutions Limited will follow the principals of NHS Employer Check Standards and any relevant employment legislation.
