Job summary

QE Facilities at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking reliable Domestic Assistants to support cleaning of patient environments and related services across the Gateshead site.

The role offers part-time hours (28 per week) on a rotating pattern including evenings and weekends, with a salary of £25,272 pro rata. Training and a supportive team are provided to ensure high standards of cleanliness and patient comfort.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Clean patient environment across designated areas as per QE Facilities policies and service level agreements.
• Organise and remove waste following waste procedures for domestic and clinical waste.
• Carry out sanitary cleaning in wet areas including toilets, basins, baths and showers.
• Maintain and replenish cleaning materials and linen in designated areas.
• Respond to remedial cleaning requests promptly.
• Report building defects to ensure remedial action is taken.
• Prepare patient area for meals and assist with serving beverages as directed by nursing staff.
• Handle linen changes in on-call rooms and curtain changes in clinical areas.
• Work on bank holidays to support service needs.

Job overview

We are looking for reliable, flexible and well-motivated individuals who take pride in their work, to work as Domestics Assistants at Gateshead. Main job purpose and duties are focused around the cleaning of the patient environment. Duties may also include food and beverage service in the patient environment.

Main duties of the job

• Complete daily, weekly, and regular cleaning to include cleaning of all floor surfaces, paintwork, internal glass, fixtures and fittings as defined by QE Facilities Policy, Procedures and Service Level Agreements within the designated area(s)
• Organise and remove waste materials from designated areas complying with defined waste procedures for both domestic and clinical waste
• Carry out sanitary cleaning in all wet areas to include toilets, basins, baths, and shower cubicles.
• Maintain, and replenish cleaning materials to all designated areas to include linen in selected locations
• Respond to requests for remedial cleaning after incidents/ accidents in a timely fashion
• Report building defects to ensure remedial action is taken
• prepare patient area for service of patient meals,
• collection of cutlery and crockery following patient meal service the washing up of all items and storage at ward level
• preparation and serving of patient beverages under the guidance of nursing staff
