The post closes on 21 September 2026 with interviews planned for Tuesday 29 September 2026; shift patterns are Monday to Friday 07:00-10:00 (15 hours) and 17:00-20:00 (15 hours).

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of infection control and health & safety practices.
  • Experience in domestic cleaning.
  • Ability to work in a clinical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high standard cleaning within clinical and non-clinical areas.
  • Operate cleaning machinery following manufacturer instructions.
  • Dispose of waste per Trust policy and complete required documentation.

As a Domestic Assistant you will provide a high quality cleaning service working either individually or as part of a team to ensure a clean and safe environment is maintained for patients, staff and visitors.

  • Monday to Friday 07.00-10.00 - 15 hoursMonday to Friday 17.00-20.00 - 15 hours
Main duties of the job
  • To provide a high standard of cleaning within clinical and non-clinical areas reducing the risk of infections by following agreed work schedules, methods and procedures in accordance with the National Standards of Cleanliness.
  • Operating cleaning equipment, machinery in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
  • Disposal of waste in accordance with the Trust Waste Policy.
  • Accurate completion of all required documentation to support specific service processes , eg Terminal cleans.

Job responsibilities
  • To perform cleaning and other associated task in any ward, department, operating theatre, laboratory, corridor, catering area, office or residential accommodation as may be required and shall include all or any of the under mentioned tasks, which may include working as a team member
  • To ensure the highest possible standard of cleanliness is achieved and complying with the National Standards of Cleanliness, and the local Infection Control Policy within given areas to minimise the risk of cross infection for staff, patients and members of the public within Trust premises
  • Undertake deep clean/isolation cleans following national and local guidelines

Person Specification
KNOWLEDGE
  • Literate - basic education
  • Understanding of infection control in relation to cleanliness
  • Understanding of Health and Safety
  • Knowledge of COSHH
SKILLS
  • Good communication skills, must be able to communicate with other members of Trust staff
  • Previous use of cleaning machines and chemicals
EXPERIENCE
  • Previous Domestic experience
QUALIFICATIONS
  • NVQ / City and Guilds Qualifications
