Descripción del empleo

Document Controller (LD47974) Birmingham, England

Salary: GBP30000 - GBP35000 per annum + company benefits

Position: Document Controller
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 DOE
Working Arrangement: Office Based – Flexible Start / Finish Times
Employment Type: Permanent – Full-time or Part-time Considered

An established, design-led architectural practice is looking to appoint a Document Controller to join its Birmingham head office. The business employs approximately 94 people across three UK officesand delivers major projects across the Education and Higher Education sectors, including schools, university buildings, laboratories and healthcare-related facilities.

This is a newly created position designed to provide greater support to the practice's Architects and wider project teams as project information, quality assurance and regulatory requirements continue to increase. Rather than being limited to issuing drawings and maintaining document registers, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to become involved in QA, audits, Building Regulations, Principal Designer/CDM processes and wider practice compliance.

The practice is deliberately open-minded on background. The position could suit an experienced Document Controller from an Architecture, Construction or Engineering environment, but they would also consider a highly organised graduate or technically minded individual who can be developed into the position. Full-time and part-time applicants will be considered, including candidates looking for approximately three days per week.

Document Controller Salary & Benefits
  • Salary approximately £30,000 - £35,000 DOE.

  • 25 days holiday which increases by 1 day per year after 5 years of service up to a maximum of 30 days

  • Opportunity to develop beyond traditional Document Control into QA, Building Regulations and Principal Designer/CDM-related work.
  • Training provided on internal processes and systems.
  • Support Architects and wider project teams with the management and control of project documentation.
  • Coordinate the issue, distribution and recording of drawings and technical information.

  • Monitor and maintain relevant project and compliance trackers.
  • Assist Architects and Directors with increasingly complex project information and regulatory requirements.
  • Support processes relating to Building Regulations and Principal Designer responsibilities.
  • Opportunity to develop involvement in wider Health & Safety and CDM-related activities.
  • Assist with the review and administration of appointments alongside Directors and the practice's legal advisers.
  • Work across multiple projects and teams within the Birmingham office.
  • Help improve the consistency, organisation and quality of information management across the practice.
  • Previous Document Control experience within Architecture, Construction, Engineering or the wider Built Environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Experienced Document Controllers as well as candidates looking to develop into the profession will be considered.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong IT skills and confidence learning new software and document management systems.
  • Comfortable managing multiple documents, trackers and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Able to communicate effectively with Architects, Directors and wider project teams.
