Job description

About us:

Linklaters is a global law firm, providing legal services in 20 countries and through 30 offices.

Linklaters is a people business. Being best in class in the eyes of our clients means that our people must be exceptional.

We look not only for brilliant minds, but for people who will thrive in our environment: people who love working collaboratively and demonstrate the innovative, efficient, agile, entrepreneurial, and responsible mind-set we aim to bring to every interaction.

Ours is an environment of outperformance. We achieve this not with targets and incentives, but by fostering a positive, supportive, fair, and open atmosphere.

We respect and value difference but insist on inclusivity. We celebrate all aspects of diversity and challenge any form of bias. This is vital to our ability to work as one team, with a common goal.

The Role

As a Divisional Revenue Advisor, you will be a trusted member of the Finance team, partnering with practice groups to optimise the Division’s revenue lifecycle and support strong financial performance. You will work closely with Partners, Matter Managers and Finance colleagues to manage WIP and debt profiles, support timely billing and help deliver billing targets. Acting as a key link between Finance and practice teams, you will provide practical guidance, resolve revenue-related issues and identify opportunities to improve billing, collections and overall revenue hygiene. This is a 12 month fixed-term position offering broad stakeholder exposure and opportunities to develop within a collaborative, globally connected Finance function.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with Partners, Matter Managers, Secretaries and Business Managers to proactively manage the revenue cycle, providing guidance on billing, WIP management, cash collection and overall financial outcomes.
  • Build trusted relationships with matter teams, recommending best practice to improve fee management, cash flow and the financial performance of matters.
  • Support Senior Revenue Advisors with practice-specific priorities and time-sensitive requirements, deputising where required to ensure continuity of financial guidance and support.
  • Review Engagement Letters and matter-opening information to ensure alignment with client billing requirements, identifying and resolving potential issues early in the revenue cycle.
  • Drive the resolution and collection of overdue debts, providing practical solutions to payment challenges and escalating sensitive or complex matters to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Manage e-billing rejections by liaising with client finance teams, investigating root causes and implementing preventative measures to minimise recurring issues.
  • Maintain accurate WIP and debtor commentary, provide relevant financial reporting and insights, and support matter teams in identifying out-of-scope work and improving fee management processes.
  • Provide guidance and training on client billing cycles and revenue best practice, while identifying and implementing opportunities to improve internal processes and the client experience from matter opening through to cash collection.
What we’re looking for:
  • A minimum of two years’ experience within a professional services environment, with experience of managing the working capital cycle.
  • Good knowledge of billing processes within a law firm or similar legal environment.
  • Strong understanding of VAT requirements and associated CCO risks.
  • Detailed knowledge of the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules and their application within a legal practice.
  • Previous experience working within a legal practice, ideally within a leading law firm.
  • A sound understanding of revenue management principles and how effective billing and working capital management contribute to financial performance.
