Job summary

Reed Specialist Recruitment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a growing district heating and communal heating team across Southeast London. You will perform maintenance, fault-finding and installation on heating and plumbing systems, travelling within a compact geographic area.

The role covers HIUs, energy centres and district heating infrastructure in residential settings, with an on-call rota and overtime opportunities. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical or plumbing background.
• Experience carrying out maintenance and fault finding on heating systems.
• Knowledge of HIUs (Heat Interface Units).
• Experience with communal or district heating systems.
• Experience working on radiators, cylinders and plumbing systems.
• Good fault-finding ability on heating controls and valves.
• Customer-facing experience within occupied residential environments.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on district heating systems.
• Reactive maintenance and emergency repairs.
• Fault finding and diagnosis on communal heating networks.
• Servicing and maintenance of HIUs.
• Working on energy centres and district heating infrastructure.
• Installation and replacement of cylinders, radiators and related plumbing equipment.
• Maintenance and repair of heating controls including 2-port and 3-port valves.
• Investigation and resolution of heating and hot water issues.
• Working within occupied residential properties and communal plant areas.
• Accurate completion of service reports and maintenance records.
• Participation in an on-call rota.
