Job summary

Reed Specialist Recruitment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a growing district heating and communal heating team across Southeast London. You will perform maintenance, fault-finding and installation on heating and plumbing systems, travelling within a compact geographic area.

The role covers HIUs, energy centres and district heating infrastructure in residential settings, with an on-call rota and overtime opportunities. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

Strong mechanical or plumbing background.
Experience carrying out maintenance and fault finding on heating systems.
Knowledge of HIUs (Heat Interface Units).
Experience with communal or district heating systems.
Experience working on radiators, cylinders and plumbing systems.
Good fault-finding ability on heating controls and valves.
Customer-facing experience within occupied residential environments.
Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on district heating systems.
Reactive maintenance and emergency repairs.
Fault finding and diagnosis on communal heating networks.
Servicing and maintenance of HIUs.
Working on energy centres and district heating infrastructure.
Installation and replacement of cylinders, radiators and related plumbing equipment.
Maintenance and repair of heating controls including 2-port and 3-port valves.
Investigation and resolution of heating and hot water issues.
Working within occupied residential properties and communal plant areas.
Accurate completion of service reports and maintenance records.
Participation in an on-call rota.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a growing district heating and communal heating team operating across Southeast London.

The successful candidate will work across a portfolio of residential and district heating systems, carrying out planned maintenance, reactive repairs, fault finding and installation work on heating and plumbing systems. The role is mobile within a concentrated geographical area, meaning travel time between sites is typically minimal.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday
08:00am - 5:30pm
Participation in the call-out rota will be required.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a mechanically biased engineer who enjoys fault-finding and problem solving and has experience working on communal heating networks, residential heating systems and HIUs. Applicants could come from backgrounds including:
