Job summary

West Midlands Safari Park is seeking a dedicated Animal Keeper for the Discovery Trail section. The role involves daily husbandry tasks across reptiles, invertebrates, bats and red pandas, plus guest engagement and talks.

A wildlife-related qualification to HND level or higher and prior experience are essential, with weekend and bank holiday work required. You will monitor animal health, maintain enclosures, and assist with Safari Academy activities, all while upholding high standards of care in

West Midlands Safari Park currently has a permanent vacancy available for an Animal Keeper on the Discovery Trail Section.

This is an exciting opportunity, where we are looking for applicants who can demonstrate the ability and knowledge to work with an extensive range of species. The role involves mainly working with the reptiles, invertebrates, bats and red pandas. The position involves husbandry tasks, such as feeding, cleaning, health monitoring and enclosure maintenance delivered to a high standard. It includes monitoring of our guests and being front of house delivering talks and guest experiences. The role also includes some tasks with the animals in our Safari Academy area.

Ab out you

The role requires someone who is confident, motivated and enthusiastic about wildlife conservation and has excellent communication skills. The successful applicant will require good wildlife knowledge and have an animal related qualification to HND level or above. We are looking for someone with previous experience in a similar role. It is a physically demanding but very rewarding role.

You will need to be observant with excellent attention to detail and be able to keep calm under pressure in a fast paced environment.

Due to driving company vehicles, we are looking for applicants who have full, valid driver’s licenses. Weekend, bank holiday working and flexibility in working hours is essential to this role. Some evening work will be required during special events throughout the year
