Job summary

Barclaycard Payments in the UK is seeking a Director of Corporate Development & Strategic Transactions to lead inorganic growth, owning bolt-on acquisitions, strategic partnerships and minority investments end-to-end.

You will advise the ELT and Board, manage governance across the Barclays Group and Brookfield, and coordinate with external advisers to structure, diligence, negotiate and close complex transactions.

Qualifications

• Significant M&A, corporate development or principal investing experience.
• Experience in payments, merchant acquiring, fintech or financial services.
• Experience of carve-out, separation or private equity sponsor environments.
• Relevant professional qualification (e.g. ACA, CFA or MBA)
• Proven track record of leading complex transactions end-to-end, from origination through to completion.
• Strong financial acumen, including valuation, modelling and business case development.
• Expertise in structuring complex arrangements, including minority investments, joint ventures and strategic partnerships.
• Strong negotiation skills and confidence acting as lead counterparty contact

Responsibilities

• Own origination and pipeline for bolt-on acquisitions and minority investments.
• Advise ELT on complex partnership and investment arrangements.
• Design investment structures with Strategic Alliances to meet objectives.
• Lead due diligence, structuring and manage advisor budgets.
• Negotiate with external counterparties and draft key documents with legal.
• Oversee financial modelling, valuation and impact analysis.
• Prepare materials for ELT and Board decisions.
• Coordinate with Barclays Group stakeholders to establish governance for acquisitions.
• Collaborate with Brookfield and Barclays teams on fundraising approaches.
• Lead regulatory engagement related to transactions.
• Manage deal teams and external advisors.
• Ensure alignment across Finance, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Technology and Operations.
