Job summary

Decagon, a leading conversational AI platform, is seeking a Director of Solutions Engineering to build and lead our pre-sales engineers. This role blends technical depth, enterprise consulting, and people leadership to drive adoption of our AI-native platform across complex enterprises.

As the manager, you will hire and mentor, establish scalable processes for pre-sales engagements, and partner with Sales, Product, and Engineering to align technical execution with business value.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in pre-sales technical roles such as Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, or equivalent.
• 3+ years leading pre-sales/solutions engineering teams.
• Proven success with large enterprise customers and complex buying cycles.
• Strong technical proficiency with enterprise AI deployments and API integrations.

Responsibilities

• Hire, mentor, and manage a team of Solutions Engineers, providing guidance and career development.
• Establish best practices for pre-sales solutioning, proof-of-concepts, and validation.
• Partner with Sales leadership to co-develop go-to-market strategies and align execution with business goals.
• Engage directly with strategic enterprise prospects, guiding discovery, solution design, and ROI validation.
• Ensure the team delivers compelling demonstrations, prototypes, and architectures tailored to customer needs.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to bring customer insights into roadmap priorities.
• Serve as an executive-level technical representative in customer meetings and events.
• Define scalable processes and assets to support team efficiency and growth.
