Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Project Director to lead major rail projects across the UK and Europe, accountable for delivery from planning through commissioning. This high-visibility role requires senior client and stakeholder engagement and the ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary teams.

You will own project strategy, governance, cost and schedule performance, while mentoring regional leaders and contributing to bids and growth within a dynamic infrastructure business.

Qualifications

  • Significant senior project or programme leadership experience in the rail sector.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale, complex infrastructure projects with substantial capital value.
  • Demonstrable responsibility for cost, schedule, risk, quality and delivery outcomes.
  • Experience working with major rail clients, infrastructure owners, operators, government bodies or Tier 1 contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and overall direction to major rail projects and programmes.
  • Assist in positioning and winning major complex infrastructure projects, specifically major rail programs.
  • Establish and maintain a high-performing project organisation with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Own project delivery strategy, governance, performance and outcomes.
  • Lead project mobilisation, implementation and transition through the lifecycle.
  • Maintain strong relationships with senior client representatives and stakeholders.
  • Establish project objectives, governance structures and delivery plans.
  • Lead management of programme, cost, schedule, risk, quality and change.
  • Provide challenge and assurance to keep projects deliverable and aligned with client objectives.
  • Drive decision-making across complex interfaces and stakeholder priorities.
  • Lead resolution of significant technical, commercial and delivery issues.
