In support of the Digital & Information Technology organization vision to ‘Unleash Skillsoft’s potential through innovative technologies’, the Director, Digital & IT – Enterprise Business Solutions, will lead a team of global technology professionals, managing, integrating, and transforming the company’s technology applications in support of the Plan to Fulfill business process. This role is responsible for overall technology enablement to support Skillsoft’s Instructor Led Training business unit in areas of Order Management, Event & Resource Management, Product and Fulfillment Management, Vendor Management, Customer/Student Engagement.

This role will be pivotal in supporting the company’s efforts to strengthen our operational foundations and modernize the end-to-end process with enabling technologies. This individual will collaborate with business leadership to understand and influence the future business direction by identifying opportunities for technology innovation. The successful candidate will possess the ability to think strategically while having an appetite for the details and taking a hands-on approach to drive the execution in supporting the team to deliver solutions that streamline processes and drive improved business outcomes.

The ideal candidate will be a proven technology leader with progressive global IT experience, with a keen interest in developing a modern, agile culture, and display a strong desire to grow internal talent, leveraging the company’s global footprint to build a robust and future-fit organization. Experience in B2B and B2C SaaS and Service business models with an appreciation of end-to-end processes to support streamlined execution required.

As an active member of the Global Digital & IT leadership team, the successful candidate will help shape and drive the future direction of the organization. Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with executive stakeholders to understand and translate company and line of business strategies into near and long-term technology initiatives and roadmaps.
  2. Act as a transformation agent to reimagine business processes, streamline operations, identify and implement innovative technology solutions with a focus on efficiency, productivity, and speed of transformation across the end-to-end portfolio.
  3. Integrate market and competitive trends, organization dynamics, business priorities, and other factors into a coherent vision for growth, while ensuring operational stability of current operations.
  4. Define and implement annual strategic and investment plans to deliver business value through transformation and operational initiatives, with a focus on operational excellence and strong financial management.
  5. Partner with peers to ensure an Enterprise view to minimize frictions in handoffs between process areas, and understand data needs to optimize the Instructor Led Training business function.
  6. Drive continuous improvement, best practices and efficient operating metrics while enabling the business, and providing transparency on progress and key challenges.
  7. Ensure regular Technology Performance Reviews are held with key stakeholders to ensure Digital & IT performance is delivered in line with service expectations.

Plan and manage operating and capital expense budgets including the qualification and selection of vendors and services.

  1. Define and lead initiatives for Disaster Recovery and Resilience as part of the company’s BCP program.
  2. Establish an agile culture focused on delivering business value quickly and efficiently, generating positive energy within the team for new ways of working.
  3. Optimize technology services and operations by creating an effective operating model, attracting and retaining the right talent while nurturing the professional growth of our employees.
  4. Work with direct reports and wider team to champion the development of Digital & IT team members, ensuring that effective Digital & IT leadership is in place and succession bench strength is defined.
Summary Skills & Qualifications:
  • 12+ years of prior experience and proven track record in Digital & IT strategic leadership in a growth-driven global organization, with a prior leadership role in supporting an event-based business; Microsoft Dynamics experience highly desirable.
  • Deep technical understanding of current and future trends in supporting planning and fulfillment of events or comparable experience, capable of developing and executing a strategy that leverages new technology to support overall product/service evolution and business performance.
  • Experience delivering global programs (> $2M investment) with a multi-regional footprint, modernizing legacy application footprints and standardizing technology solutions across companies with a fragmented landscape.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving key business process transformations in M&A integrations.
  • Solid experience with and understanding of SaaS, Information Security, and integration of IT applications and standardization of business processes.
  • Ability to effectively balance the desire/need for broad change with an understanding of how much change the organization is capable of handling; to create realistic goals and implementation plans that are achievable and successful.
  • Experience building technology teams in innovative, global, and progressive companies. Ability to set clear and challenging goals while committing the organization to improved performance; tenacious and accountable in driving results.
  • Strong communication skills, with ability to naturally connect and build strong relationships with others, a team player demonstrating strong emotional intelligence and an ability to communicate clearly and persuasively.
  • Highly resilient, comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, ensuring an effective balance between internally and externally facing activities.
  • Strong analytical skills, with bias towards action and data-driven decision making.
  • Strong interest in and orientation towards developing talent and building highly functional teams.
  • Change agent with ability to lead through ambiguity and evolving business models with experience partnering with business to define KPIs and measures of success.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including iterative development and continuous improvement practices. Experience with global data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
