Job summary

Capita is seeking a part-time Digital Learning Support Assistant in Portsmouth to coach learners in digital skills, help with access to online resources, and support personalised learning plans.

Eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level, you will work 30 hours Monday to Thursday with onsite facilities. Salary is £21,410 (FTE £26,762), plus flexible benefits and development opportunities.

• Good digital skills and proficiency with Microsoft 365.
• Experience coaching or supporting learners to develop new skills.
• Understanding of Functional Skills English and maths.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group coaching to help learners build digital skills and confidence.
• Help learners use digital systems and platforms to access and complete their learning.
• Support initial assessments and contribute to personalised learning plans.
• Provide support for learners with SpLD and neurodiverse needs to access learning.
• Support learners studying Functional Skills English and maths with coaching techniques.
• Set up learner accounts and assist with accessing online resources and tools.
• Maintain accurate learner records and provide administrative support including exam activities and invigilation.
• Collaborate with instructors and the learning team to maintain safeguarding and a positive learning environment.

Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.

What you’ll be doing

• Provide one-to-one and small-group coaching and practical support to help learners build their digital skills and confidence.
• Help learners use the digital systems and platforms they need to access and complete their learning.
• Support initial assessments and help identify individual learning needs, contributing to personalised learning plans.
• Provide appropriate support for learners with Specific Learning Differences (SpLD) and neurodiverse needs, helping them access learning effectively.
• Support learners studying Functional Skills English and maths, using coaching techniques to build confidence and encourage progress.
• Set up learner accounts and provide ongoing support with accessing online learning resources and digital tools.
• Maintain accurate learner records and provide administrative support, including exam activities, reporting and invigilation.
• Work closely with instructors and the wider learning team to create an inclusive, supportive and positive learning environment, while maintaining safeguarding and learner welfare standards.

What we’re looking for:

Essential:

• Good digital skills, including experience using Microsoft 365.
• Confident learning and using new digital systems.
• Experience supporting or coaching people to develop new skills.
• An understanding of Functional Skills English and maths.

Desirable:

• Experience within the military would be an advantage
• Level 3 or higher qualification in education and training
• Coaching and/or mentoring qualification
