Job summary

Oxford Brookes University is seeking a Digital Experience Projects Manager based at Headington with hybrid working.

You will manage strategic digital experience projects across the student experience portal and staff intranet (ServiceNow Employee Centre), collaborating with the Web and Digital team, the ServiceNow platform team, and the Communications team, to identify, design, deliver, and review user experience improvements that inform decision-making.

  • Ability to define technical requirements, prototype, and perform testing.
  • A-levels or equivalent qualification/experience.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, prioritise, and scope strategic UX projects across student portal and staff intranet.
  • Project manage UX projects from inception to review, including requirements, planning, scheduling, and change management.
  • Manage portal and intranet content and functionality changes, including writing and building new sections.
  • Plan and deliver UX workshops and discovery sessions with stakeholders at various levels.
  • Conduct user research using audits, analytics, usability studies, SEO reviews, A/B testing, and surveys.
  • Analyse findings and present reports and recommendations to committees and stakeholders.
  • Support ServiceNow Platform team by investigating issues, defining requirements, preparing work items, and performing testing.

The role

Based at our Headington campus (with hybrid working) and reporting to the Web and Digital Communications Manager, the Digital Experience Projects Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing strategic digital experience projects across our student experience portal and staff intranet (ServiceNow Employee Centre). Working closely with the Web and Digital team, the ServiceNow platform team, and the Communications team, you will identify, design, deliver, and review user experience improvement projects aligned with our content vision and strategy to ensure learning continually informs decision-making.

This is a full time, fixed term role for 18 months.

About the team

The Strategic Marketing and Communications department operates within the Marketing, Recruitment & Engagement Directorate to advance the profile and reputation of Oxford Brookes University. The team leads on strategic digital user experience, web content, and multi-channel communications to drive student engagement and support university recruitment and engagement objectives. Working in close collaboration with internal stakeholders, platform engineering teams, and academic faculties, the team is committed to user-centric innovation, continuous feedback, and delivering seamless digital experience solutions across our portals and channels.

What will I be doing?
  • Identify, prioritise, and scope strategic user experience projects across the student experience portal and staff intranet.
  • Project manage digital user experience projects from inception to review, including requirement gathering, planning, scheduling, and managing change requests.
  • Manage portal and intranet content and functionality changes, including writing, editing, and building new sections aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver user experience workshops and discovery sessions with stakeholders across various seniority levels.
  • Conduct in-depth user research utilising content audits, web analytics, usability studies, SEO reviews, A/B testing, focus groups, and surveys.
  • Analyse user research findings and present detailed user behavior reports and recommendations to university committees and key stakeholders.
  • Support the ServiceNow Platform team by investigating issues, defining functional requirements, preparing work items, and conducting functional and regression testing.
What skills do I need?
Essential skills:
  • Demonstrable experience in digital content management combined with proven project management skills.
  • Technical proficiency in Content Management Systems (CMS), web analytics tools, digital design principles, and Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage competing project demands and change requests independently.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience leading workshops and discovery sessions.
  • Proven experience conducting, analyzing, and reporting on quantitative and qualitative user research (e.g., usability studies, content audits, A/B testing, surveys).
  • Capability to define technical requirements, construct prototypes, and perform functional and regression testing.
  • A-levels or equivalent qualification/experience.
Desirable Skills:
  • A degree in a relevant subject or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience working within Higher Education or managing portal/intranet platforms (such as ServiceNow Employee Centre).

Based at our Headington campus, you'll experience the vibrant campus atmosphere and benefit from our modern office environment. This role will be offered on a hybrid working basis, combining campus-based collaboration with working from home.
