Job Summary
We’re looking for a proactive and experienced communications professional to join DWP Digital’s award-winning Digital Engagement team. We’re a supportive, talented, and hard-working team who use insight to communicate to more than 4500 colleagues through various channels in an innovative and effective way.
You will lead on the creation, co-ordination and manage the delivery of some of our key internal communication and engagement campaigns to colleagues across multiple sites.
As a Digital Communication and Engagement Manager for the Chief Operating Office (COO), you’ll shape their engagement strategy through audience insight, your channel expertise and your creative communications skills. You’ll work collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues across and beyond COO to define, deliver and evaluate the COO story to internal and/or external audiences. You articulate the voice of the audience within COO and translate technical issues into relevant and understandable content which resonates with your audiences.
You will also play an important role connecting with the central Digital Engagement hub where you will work on shared engagement outcomes as well as connecting COO to the wider organisation. You will also utilise information about Digital Group to engage COO colleagues and connect them with the wider organisation. This will also require you to have a great knowledge of COO which can be articulated when Digital Group needs to respond to questions about its services.
Job Description
As a Digital Engagement Manager, you'll play an important role in shaping and delivering our communications and engagement strategy. In this role you will:
- Collaborate with the central hub and key stakeholders to lead on planning, developing and delivering engaging and innovative campaigns and strategies.
- Use your communications expertise to reach and engage internal audiences across a range of digital channels.
- Work effectively with team members to deliver internal communications campaigns in the most effective way, ensuring that the correct message is being promoted and assessing the effectiveness of that message over time.
- Deliver strategic communications to support business goals. This often involves understanding complex issues and working with directors and senior stakeholders to identify the best targeted approach based on insight and desired outcomes.

Person specification
When Giving Details In Your Employment History And Personal Statement You Should Highlight Your Experience In Line With Essential Criteria Below:
- Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering communication strategies and campaign plans on complex issues to tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and editorial skills, experience of writing engaging content for digital channels which is consistent with an organisation’s priorities and values.
- Excellent relationship management, verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Negotiating and influencing at all levels and working effectively on projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to operate creatively in an environment of change and ambiguity and making effective use of digital tools and channels.
- Strong planning, and organisational skills, including delivering internal communications campaigns to tight deadlines. You will have the ability to spot communication opportunities and risks, recommend solutions and deliver on them.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. Salary Information
New entrants to the Civil Service will join on band minimum.
Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.
Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

Stage 1: Application
Your Application Will Consist Of Three Parts:
- A Personal Details application form.
- Employment history - this should contain your work experience and any skills, qualifications and accomplishments relevant to the jobs you have completed based on the essential criteria.
- Personal statement - up to 750 words. This statement should be used to provide examples of how you meet the essential criteria listed in the Person specification.
The sift panel will use the information in your employment history and personal statement to assess your experience, skills and knowledge against the essential criteria.
You will be provided with one combined overall assessment score for both your CV and Personal Statement.

Stage 2: Interview
If you’re successful at sift stage you will be invited to a video interview via Microsoft Teams. There, you will be assessed against the experiences listed in the
essential criteria.
Questions in Advance
To help you prepare and settle into the interview you will be sent the experience-based questions in advance of the interview, 7 days prior to your interview.
These questions should be treated as confidential and should not be shared. The interview panel may ask you other questions which will not be shared in advance, including follow-up questions, and those about your experience. Candidates should be asked further probing questions if their response is deemed to require further information to determine suitability for the role.
Candidates are strongly encouraged to secure their interview slot promptly to ensure fairness in preparation time with the questions provided in advance.
You will also be asked to prepare a 5-minute presentation on what you think will be the top 3 challenges of this role . The use of visual aids (such as PowerPoint) is encouraged. There will be a further 2 minutes for questions. Further details will be provided to candidates invited to interview.
