Hyreus in Widnes seeks an experienced Generator Technician / Field Service Engineer to service, maintain and repair diesel generators and related power generation equipment. The role blends depot work with field assignments across the UK, with emphasis on fault-finding, routine servicing and client-site support.

Ideal candidates have hands-on mechanical and electrical skills, experience with generators and power equipment, and a proactive, safety-conscious approach to maintenance and repairs.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical and electrical engineering background.
• Experience with diesel generators, engines, alternators or power generation equipment.
• Proficient fault-finding, servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Willing to work in depot/workshop and in the field.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on diesel generators and related equipment.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults on generators.
• Undertake preventative maintenance and planned servicing to ensure reliability.
• Prepare equipment for hire, deployment and customer use.
• Complete inspections, testing and pre-delivery checks.
• Attend customer sites for breakdown repairs and maintenance.
• Respond to field service and emergency breakdown requirements.
• Document service reports and maintenance records accurately.
• Maintain health and safety standards and a clean depot/workshop.
