The Role

As a Diesel Gas Path Engineer, you will support the development of engine / aftertreatment physical base system engineering. You will ensure adherence to specified engineering methods, computer tools, and support understanding of integrated propulsion functions across vehicle and domain teams.

Your responsibilities:

  • Work on robust requirements and ensure targets are delivered on-cycle to programmes.
  • Develop and update system artifacts (MBSE models, use case analysis, LAD, FFA/DFMEA/DRBFM, DVP, requirements, standards).
  • Deliver new functions via Statement of Capability (SOC) and Feature Statement of Intent (FSOI).
  • Identify, report, and resolve system compatibility issues efficiently.
  • Chair technical reviews/forums and resolve complex cross-functional issues.
  • Develop methods and conduct technical studies into future technologies.
  • Analyze standard cycles like emission tests, identify and resolve related issues.

Your Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Experience in electrified propulsion systems like MHEV, PHEV.
  • Strong background in Emissions/Gas Path/Aftertreatment.
  • Experience with emissions testing and calibration, including test bed work.
  • Understanding of integrating Core systems like Aftertreatment and Gas Path.
  • Hands-on experience calibrating diesel engines for emissions on dyno.
  • Knowledge of emissions regulations and calibration processes.
  • Understanding of ICE gas path chemistry.
  • Calibration knowledge and sensor control experience.
  • Experience with CAE tools, vehicle propulsion systems, and Simulink modeling.
  • Ability to define test cases and DoE for various testing environments.
  • Full UK or equivalent driving license.
  • Knowledge of 8D problem resolution and Six Sigma methods.
  • Excellent communication skills, team player, interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
  • Previous experience in emission calibration and powertrain systems engineering.
  • Understanding of MHEV systems and calibration across test cycles.
  • CAE experience related to vehicle and propulsion subsystems.
  • Specialization in Emissions, After-treatment, Gas-path, Base engines, HV Systems, Torque, and Energy Arbitration.
