The Role

As a Diesel Gas Path Engineer, you will support the development of engine/aftertreatment physical base system engineering. You will ensure adherence to specified engineering methods, computer tools, and aids. You will also support vehicle, domain, and other indirect team members' understanding of the integrated propulsion functions.

Your responsibilities:

  1. Work on robust requirements and ensure targets are delivered on-cycle to programmes.
  2. Develop and update system artifacts (MBSE models, use case analysis, LAD, FFA/DFMEA/DRBFM, DVP, requirements, standards) off-cycle and on-cycle as required.
  3. Deliver new functions via statement of capability (SOC) and Feature statement of intent (FSOI) process.
  4. Identify, report, and resolve system compatibility issues efficiently.
  5. Chair technical reviews/forums and resolve complex cross-functional issues.
  6. Develop methods and conduct technical studies into future technologies.
  7. Analyze standard cycles like emission test cycles and address related issues.

Your Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Experience in developing electrified propulsion systems such as MHEV, PHEV.
  • Strong background in Emissions, Gas Path, or Aftertreatment.
  • Experience with emissions testing and calibration, including test bed work.
  • Understanding of integration of core systems like Aftertreatment and Gas Path.
  • Hands-on experience calibrating diesel engines for emissions targets.
  • Knowledge of emission regulations and calibration processes.
  • Understanding of ICE engine gas path chemistry.
  • Calibration knowledge and sensor control experience.
  • Experience with CAE tools for vehicle, propulsion, and sub-systems, including Simulink modeling.
  • Experience in defining test cases and DoE for HIL, PIL, VIL, and vehicle environments.
  • Full UK or equivalent driving license.
  • Proficiency in 8D issue resolution and data statistics using Six Sigma methods.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or automotive engineering.
  • Previous experience in emission calibration and powertrain systems engineering.
  • Knowledge of MHEV systems and calibration on different test cycles.
  • CAE experience on vehicle and propulsion sub-systems, including Simulink modeling.
  • Expertise in Emissions, Aftertreatment, Gas-path, Base engines, HV Systems, Torque, and Energy Arbitration.
