Job summary

Perfect Placement is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Technician for a well-established family-run independent garage in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. You will carry out advanced vehicle diagnostics and servicing, identifying faults and advising repairs, within a supportive team.

The role offers day-to-day Monday to Friday 8:00am-5:30pm with some Saturdays, generous salary up to £43,000 plus overtime, paid MOT training, and ongoing development in a friendly environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Diagnostic Technician or Highly Skilled Vehicle Technician is essential.
• Proficient in using diagnostic equipment and fault-finding systems.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out advanced vehicle diagnostics using manufacturer and aftermarket diagnostic equipment.
• Accurately identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults.
• Interpret fault codes, live data, wiring diagrams, and technical information.
• Conduct systematic fault-finding to determine root causes of complex issues.
• Complete diagnostic reports detailing findings and recommended repairs.
• Provide technical guidance and support to other technicians.
• Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs as necessary.
• Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment.
• Work collaboratively with the team to ensure timely completion of vehicle repairs.
