Duties of a Diagnostic Technician:
- Carry out advanced vehicle diagnostics using manufacturer and aftermarket diagnostic equipment
- Accurately identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults
- Interpret fault codes, live data, wiring diagrams, and technical information
- Conduct systematic fault-finding to determine root causes of complex issues
- Complete diagnostic reports detailing findings and recommended repairs
- Provide technical guidance and support to other technicians
- Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs as necessary
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high standards
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure timely completion of vehicle repairs
Requirements of a Diagnostic Technician:
- Previous experience as a Diagnostic Technician or Highly Skilled Vehicle Technician is essential
- Proficient in using diagnostic equipment and fault-finding systems
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification is desirable
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and electronic diagnostic knowledge
- Excellent attention to detail and a pride in workmanship
- Ability to diagnose complex faults accurately and efficiently
- Good communication skills and teamwork ability
- Must be reliable, hardworking, and able to work independently
