Job summary

Autotech-Recruit-Limited is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Technician for our Newbury workshop. You will fault-find, diagnose and repair complex electrical and mechanical faults to manufacturer standards, while delivering excellent customer service.

The role offers Monday–Friday hours, ongoing manufacturer and technical training, and strong earning potential with uncapped bonuses as you develop your career in a professional dealership environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding expertise, particularly with electrical systems.
  • Experience using manufacturer diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine vehicle servicing and maintenance to manufacturer standards.
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.
  • Perform detailed health checks and provide accurate diagnostic reports.
  • Carry out air conditioning servicing and repairs.
  • Complete MOT-related repairs and general workshop tasks.
  • Investigate and rectify electrical system faults using diagnostic equipment.
  • Source and order parts as needed and maintain records.
  • Keep customers updated on repairs and findings.

Job description

Location: Newbury, Berkshire

Salary: £37,000 - £52,000 OTE + Uncapped Bonus

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm (30-minute lunch)

About the Role

A leading automotive retailer is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Technician to join its established workshop team in Newbury. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled technician with strong fault-finding abilities to develop their career within a professional dealership environment, offering ongoing training, career progression and uncapped earning potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine vehicle servicing and maintenance in accordance with manufacturer standards.
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical and electronic vehicle faults.
  • Perform detailed vehicle health checks and provide accurate diagnostic reports.
  • Conduct air conditioning servicing and repairs.
  • Complete MOT-related repairs and general workshop repairs.
  • Investigate and rectify vehicle electrical system faults using diagnostic equipment.
  • Carry out welding repairs when required.
  • Source and order parts required to complete repairs efficiently.
  • Liaise with customers when appropriate, providing updates on vehicle repairs and technical findings.
  • Maintain accurate workshop documentation and job records.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety standards.
Requirements
  • Relevant automotive qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a Diagnostic Technician within a dealership or professional workshop environment.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding expertise, particularly with electrical systems.
  • Experience using manufacturer diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
