Job summary

Citygate Automotive Ltd. is seeking a Diagnostic Technician to perform servicing and mechanical repairs on customers' vehicles in a bustling workshop in the High Wycombe area.

The role focuses on accurate diagnostics, repairs, and maintaining quality standards while engaging with service reception and customers. You will be expected to update product knowledge, coach apprentices where appropriate, and contribute to maintaining high customer service levels.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing and diagnostics on customers' vehicles to high standards.
• Perform mechanical repairs as directed by workshop control.
• Communicate with Service Reception about issues and estimates.
• Advise customers with expert technical opinions and options.
• Maintain workshop cleanliness and organisation of tools and parts.
• Keep up-to-date with product knowledge and training.

Role overview

We are looking for a Diagnostic Technician to carry out general servicing and mechanical repairs on our customers' vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Being an ambassador of the Citygate workshop and championing technical best practice.
• Carrying out service, diagnosis, and repair of vehicles to excellent standards.
• Communicating with the Service Reception team and Workshop Control.
• Liaising with customers to provide your expert, technical opinion.
• Maintaining good housekeeping standards and orderly administration of your work.
• Maintaining thorough and up-to-date product knowledge.
• Maintaining exceptionally high customer service levels that lead to customer loyalty and referrals.

About you

• Experience ideally within a main dealership and have served a recognised apprenticeship with the appropriate qualifications (an NVQ in Motor Vehicle Technology or equivalent is essential.
• Experience of working with The Volkswagen Group brands would be desirable but is not mandatory (excellent training can be provided).
• The ability to be self‑motivated to achieve targets.
• A passion for learning and if desired to progress further at Citygate.
• An interest in coaching apprentices and supporting service technicians.
• A positive attitude and to be a good team player.
• You must have a full UK driving licence.
