Job summary

Specialist Risk Group (SRG) is seeking a Development Underwriter within MX Underwriting to drive profitable growth by developing broker partnerships and underwriting commercial risks across the Property & Casualty market.

You will build broker relationships across Midlands, North West, Yorkshire and North East, negotiate outcomes within authority levels, and provide technical expertise to access specialist solutions for complex risks.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial insurance underwriting, trading underwriting or broker development.
• Technical knowledge of Commercial Combined, Property and/or Casualty risks.
• Proven success in developing broker relationships and winning new business.
• An established broker network across the North of England.
• Experience working within an insurer, MGA or delegated authority environment.
• Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to make sound underwriting decisions while balancing commercial opportunity and risk.

Responsibilities

• Building and strengthening broker relationships across the Midlands, North West, Yorkshire and North East.
• Identifying and converting profitable new business opportunities within target markets.
• Underwriting and negotiating Commercial Combined, Property and Casualty risks within authority levels.
• Representing MX at broker meetings, networking events and industry functions.
• Providing technical expertise and solutions for complex or specialist risks.
• Working with colleagues across the business to deliver excellent broker service and portfolio growth.
