Development and Calibration Engineer, Cambridge

This position is based in Alzenau, near Frankfurt/M., Germany, at Hyundai Motorsport GmbH, responsible for Hyundai's global motorsport activities.

We are seeking a creative Development and Calibration Engineer to join our Testing and Simulation Team. Your role will involve powertrain system thermo-fluids modeling and performance analysis to help produce a world-class product that provides a competitive advantage.

Responsibilities
  1. Powertrain calibration at the test bench and race track if required.
  2. Define test procedures for new powertrain items, software, or hardware, and oversee test realization.
  3. Optimize engine calibration and strategies for maximum performance and reliability.
  4. Provide innovative solutions to engineering challenges that benefit our products.
  5. Evaluate concepts and conduct analysis independently while being part of a team.
  6. Collaborate closely with product development teams.
  7. Create and validate novel engineering models and solutions.
  8. Engage in continuous skill development and problem-solving to deliver a world-class product.
Qualifications
  • Master's or PhD in a relevant engineering field, involving ICE.
  • At least 5 years of experience in high-performance or motorsport powertrain.
  • Experience with hybrid powertrains is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art TC-DI engine development, especially powertrain test bench calibration.
  • Experience with modern automated test equipment.
  • Proficiency in programming or scripting languages.
  • Strong manual dexterity and practical skills.
  • Formula SAE experience is highly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of ICE/powertrain testing and metrology.
  • Knowledge of internal combustion engine and powertrain fundamentals.
  • Experience with test bench automation, combustion analysis, and CAN bus architecture.
  • Ability to use data post-processing tools like Wintax and ATLAS.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of German is a plus or willingness to learn.
