Job summary

Mitie Group plc. is recruiting for Detention Custody Officers to join the Larne House Residential Short Term holding Facility.

The role involves maintaining safety, security and welfare of residents within a secure police-based facility, with a 4on4off shift pattern including day and night duties. Full training is provided on full pay, and the post requires flexibility to work across 365 days a year, including weekends and bank holidays.

Qualifications

• UK citizen with indefinite leave to remain (or EEA citizen).
• Valid in-date passport with no restrictions on stay in the UK (biometric residence permit advised).
• Continuously resided in the UK for the previous 3 years with no more than 3 months overseas.
• Full UK Northern Ireland manual driving licence with at least 12 months post qualifying experience.
• Fewer than 7 points on your UK Driving Licence; no driving ban in last 12 months.
• Not currently bankrupt.
• Position exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act; Enhanced DBS and vetting to Counter Terrorist Check (CTC).
• Random drug and alcohol testing is a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of security and safety while promoting welfare and decency of residents.
• Occasionally escort and transport immigration residents across Northern Ireland, including by aircraft and ferry to the Mainland UK.
• Cover day and night shifts; work 365 days a year; adapt to a fast-paced, varied environment.
• Begin with a 4-week initial training course (training may be in England) on full pay.
