Job summary

Mitie Group plc in the United Kingdom is recruiting for a Custody Detention Officer to work in police custody suites, caring for detainees and escorting them as required. You will support detainee welfare, conduct observations, and coordinate with colleagues and police to manage risks.

You will start with a 3‑week ITC training on 8am–5pm, then benefit from ongoing development. Prior experience in police/security is helpful, but training is provided; a full UK driving licence and basic IT skills

Qualifications

• Reasonable level of spoken and written English.
• Competent in IT and using a computer.
• Full valid driving licence.
• Right to work in UK (UK passport or ILR) for 3 years + no gaps out of country >3 months.
• All candidates subject to police vetting checks - clean driving/criminal record is essential.

Responsibilities

• Care for detainees in custody suites and escort detainees.
• Complete forensic samples and observations per individual plan.
• Work with Police and other agencies to support detainee rehabilitation.
• Monitor detainees' safety and respond to risks (e.g., self-harm) according to plan.
• Participate in initial training and ongoing development.
