Job Description:
Desktop & Infrastructure Support Engineer
We’re looking for a Desktop & Infrastructure Support Engineer to join our team in Edinburgh, supporting a secure and important client environment.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll provide day-to-day desktop support while also getting involved in wider infrastructure activities. You’ll work across laptops, desktops, VDI and server environments, helping to troubleshoot issues, maintain systems and contribute to infrastructure projects and improvements.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving technical problems and working directly with users, but who also has an interest in what’s happening behind the scenes across the wider infrastructure. You’ll have the opportunity to work with a range of Microsoft technologies and enterprise tools, build your technical knowledge and develop your career within a large technology organisation.
We’re passionate about building diverse, inclusive teams and actively encourage applications from women, underrepresented groups, and neurodivergent candidates, with support and adjustments available throughout the hiring process.
Because this is an on-site role, you’ll be someone who enjoys being visible and approachable, working alongside colleagues and building good relationships with the people you support.
Due to the nature of the client environment, eligibility for security clearance is required for this role. To meet the current security requirements, candidates must be sole UK nationals and have lived and worked continuously in the UK for the past five years. Unfortunately, we are unable to consider dual nationals for this position.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
We’re looking for someone with a solid technical background who enjoys hands‑on support and wants to work across both desktop and infrastructure technologies.
You’ll ideally have:
A degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience would be beneficial.
Relevant IT qualifications or certifications, such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft 365, AWS Cloud Practitioner or similar, are also welcome but are not essential.
You don’t need to be an expert in every technology listed above. What’s important is that you have a strong technical foundation, enjoy getting to the bottom of problems and are keen to develop your knowledge across both desktop and infrastructure.
You’ll be comfortable working directly with users while also understanding that good support often means looking beyond the immediate issue and considering the wider infrastructure.
At DXC Technology, you’ll be part of a team supporting technology that matters. You’ll work alongside experienced IT and infrastructure professionals, gain exposure to a broad range of technologies and have the opportunity to develop your skills across both desktop and infrastructure.
You’ll be working in an environment where security, service and teamwork are genuinely important, with opportunities to get involved in infrastructure projects and build your technical experience over time.
In addition, DXC offers a competitive salary and a flexible benefits package designed to support you both professionally and personally - including pension, private medical cover and wellbeing programmes.
At DXC Technology, we believe strong connections and community are key to our success. Our work model prioritizes in‑person collaboration while offering flexibility to support wellbeing, productivity, individual work styles, and life circumstances. We’re committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
