Job summary

DXC Technology is seeking Linux Administrators to join a highly skilled technical team responsible for supporting enterprise Linux infrastructure at customer locations. The role emphasizes on-site work five days a week and collaboration across IT teams to ensure secure, reliable services.

Ideal candidates will have extensive Linux experience (RHEL/Ubuntu/Debian/SUSE), strong troubleshooting skills, ITIL background, and proficiency with Bash scripting.

Qualifications

  • Experience administering Linux operating systems such as RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian, or SUSE.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working within ITIL-based service environments.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and time-management skills.
  • Experience with Bash scripting and Linux command-line administration.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite at the customer location five days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first and second-line support for infrastructure incidents, requests, and problems.
  • Administer, support, and maintain enterprise Linux environments.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity to ensure stable service delivery.
  • Perform system patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Linux operating system and infrastructure issues.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with operational processes, policies, and security standards.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and continual service improvement.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to deliver effective solutions.

Linux System Administrator
Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the work and the customers we support, successful candidates must be eligible to meet UK Government and contractual security requirements, including applicable residency requirements, and have the right to work in the United Kingdom. Some roles may also be subject to nationality requirements where necessary to meet security obligations.

Location & Working Pattern

This is a fully onsite position, based at the customer location five days per week. Due to customer requirements, hybrid and remote working are not available for this role.

Working as part of a highly skilled technical team, you will help support and maintain critical Linux infrastructure that underpins essential customer services.
