Job summary

Channing School is seeking a highly organised Design & Technology Technician to join the D&T Department from January 2027. You will support teaching staff and pupils, prepare materials and equipment for practical lessons, and help maintain workshop facilities.

The role includes 3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters, and safe operation of workshop machinery. We seek a practical, resourceful person with experience in wood, metal and plastics, and a good grasp of health and safety.

Qualifications

• Practical and well-organised candidate with experience using wood, metal and plastics.
• Familiarity with workshop tools and machinery and a sound health & safety understanding.
• Experience with CAD/CAM technologies and Food Technology preparation is advantageous.
• Experience in an educational setting is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials and equipment for practical lessons and activities.
• Support safe operation of workshop machinery and digital manufacturing technologies (3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters).
• Assist with resource preparation for Food Technology lessons.
• Maintain accurate stock and equipment records and assist with purchasing.
