Job summary

Channing School seeks a Design & Technology Technician to join the Design & Technology Department from January 2027. The role supports teaching staff and pupils, preparing materials and equipment for practical lessons and assisting with CAD/CAM and digital fabrication resources.

The successful candidate will help maintain the workshops, ensure safety standards, manage stock and assist with purchasing, while contributing to a dynamic, forward‑looking department within a school expanding its STEM

Qualifications

Experience of working with materials such as wood, metal and plastics.
Familiarity with workshop tools and machinery.
Sound understanding of health and safety in a technical environment.
Experience with CAD/CAM technologies would be advantageous in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

Prepare materials and equipment for practical lessons.
Support safe operation of workshop machinery and digital manufacturing technologies (3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters).
Assist with preparation of resources for Food Technology lessons.
Maintain accurate stock and equipment records and assist with purchasing and general admin for the department.
