Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a hands-on Design & Technology Technician to support a busy D&T department in Buckinghamshire. You will prepare materials, maintain workshop tools and machinery, and help students turn ideas into tangible outputs.

The role emphasizes safety-conscious work in a school workshop, with term-time options and a competitive salary. You will work closely with teachers to ensure safe, effective use of CAD/CAM equipment and 3D printers.

Qualifications

• Experience: Practical background with hand/power tools, machinery, or CAD/CAM equipment in industrial/school workshop settings.
• Skills: Strong practical/making skills, meticulous attention to detail, proactive workshop organization.
• Safety: Knowledge of health and safety regulations in workshop env (CLEAPSS guidelines or similar).
• Education: Qualifications in Design & Technology, Engineering, Product Design or related trade.

Responsibilities

• Workshop Preparation: Prepare timber, metals, plastics, and other materials for student lessons.
• Equipment Maintenance: Inspect, clean, calibrate, and service workshop machinery and hand tools.
• Health & Safety: Maintain a hazard-free workshop, enforce PPE, assist with risk assessments.
• Resource Management: Monitor stock, manage tool inventories, coordinate equipment orders.
• Classroom Support: Guide students in safe use of machinery, CAD/CAM equipment, and 3D printers.
