Design Technology Technician – Secondary School – Mid Devon

Are you a proactive and skilled individual with a background in Design Technology? TeacherActive is working with a well-regarded secondary school in Mid Devon to recruit a Design Technology Technician for a permanent role starting in September 2025.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and creative DT department and play a vital role in supporting practical teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical support for Design Technology lessons, including Resistant Materials, Graphics, and/or Food Technology

Prepare, maintain and manage tools, equipment, and materials to ensure safe and effective use

Assist in practical classroom activities and support pupils and teaching staff as needed

Ensure all equipment and workspaces are compliant with current health and safety regulations

Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain stock levels

Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar technician role is essential

Strong understanding of health & safety procedures, particularly within a workshop or practical classroom environment

Technical knowledge in areas such as woodwork, metalwork, CAD/CAM, electronics or food technology

Excellent organisation and communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check is mandatory for this role
