Job summary

Oakwood School is seeking a highly motivated Design Technology Technician to join our busy, safety-focused department. This role supports 1600 pupils across Key Stage 3 and various Key Stage 4 options, and involves hands-on technical assistance, equipment maintenance, and collaborative work with staff.

The vacancy offers 32.5 hours per week, term-time hours, with potential for hour adjustments for the right candidate. A strong focus on safe, functional classrooms is essential.

Qualifications

• Provide technical support to Design and Technology staff and lessons as required.
• Maintain and repair departmental equipment and classroom facilities.
• Coordinate routine maintenance and arrange for testing of equipment.
• Support busy, safety-focused department delivering curriculum to pupils.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and support to the Subject Leader for Design and Technology and other teaching staff as required.
• Advise and assist in lessons as technician support when booked by teaching staff.
• Perform day to day cleaning of departmental classrooms and equipment as appropriate.
• Perform day to day maintenance and repair of departmental equipment.
• Arrange for specialist maintenance and testing of departmental equipment.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in a busy, safety-focused department delivering an engaging curriculum to 1600 pupils at Key Stage 3 and a wide range of Key Stage 4 options, including Design and Technology, Hospitality and Catering, and Food Preparation and Nutrition.

Job Title: Design Technology Technician

Grade: PS5

Salary: £28,546 to £30,581 (FTE): Actual salary based on 32.5 hours is £22,170 - £23, 751

Hours: 32.5 hours per week (8.15am to 15.15pm - Flexible) Monday to Friday, term time only

Consideration will be given to reduce working hours for the right candidate

Responsible to: Senior Science Technician/ Head of Design Technology
