The Role

A secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a passionate and dedicated Design Technology Teacher to join its Design Technology department from September 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis.

The successful candidate will teach Design Technology across KS3 and KS4, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons that develop students' creativity, practical skills, technical knowledge, and ability to design and develop solutions. You will support students in building confidence across both practical and theoretical aspects of the subject.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons, assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment. You will uphold high expectations for behaviour and achievement while encouraging students to develop their creativity, problem-solving skills, and enthusiasm for Design Technology.

The Candidate
  • Hold QTS or be an ECT
  • Hold the required SMHS Certification
  • Have experience teaching Design Technology within a secondary school setting
  • Be confident teaching Design Technology across KS3 and KS4
  • Have strong practical and theoretical subject knowledge
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills
  • Be committed to supporting student progress and raising attainment
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have a genuine passion for Design Technology and inspiring young people
