Job summary

Smile Education are recruiting for a Design and Technology Teacher to join a successful secondary school in the Telford area. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to a welcoming, safe and inclusive learning environment where students are encouraged to achieve their potential.

You will plan and deliver engaging DT lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility to teach at Key Stage 5. The school emphasises high expectations, achievement and personal development for both students

Qualifications

  • An ECT or fully qualified Design and Technology Teacher.
  • Previous experience teaching Design and Technology within a UK secondary school.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a good understanding of the DT curriculum.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons.
  • Experience teaching Design and Technology at GCSE level and familiarity with relevant examination boards.
  • Confident, professional and engaging classroom presence.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Reliable, adaptable and passionate about supporting student progress.
  • Ability to motivate students and develop their confidence, creativity and practical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality Design and Technology lessons in line with the school curriculum.
  • Create engaging and practical lessons that inspire students and develop creativity, problem-solving and technical skills.
  • Assess, monitor and mark student work in line with school expectations.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students are encouraged to achieve their potential.
  • Adapt teaching and learning to meet the needs of students with SEND and other additional needs.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour, safety and engagement within the classroom and practical learning environments.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Design and Technology department.
  • Teach Design and Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 where required.
  • Support student progression and contribute to broader departmental goals.
