Line Up Aviation is seeking a Design Quality Engineer to join the Broughton site on a 12‑month contract, working fully onsite. The role sits in the Quality Engineering Airframe Wing and reports to the Head of Quality Engineering Wing Operations, coordinating with engineering teams and suppliers globally.

Qualifications

  • Quality/Engineering experience or background in quality systems.
  • Knowledge of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Understanding of root cause analysis techniques (e.g. 9D, 8D).
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
  • Project management knowledge.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management.
  • Willingness to learn quickly and adapt.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and deliver improvement projects to meet Wing quality targets.
  • Lead root cause analysis and practical problem solving activities.
  • Establish and drive corrective and preventive actions for quality performance.
  • Identify risks relating to engineering deliverables and implement mitigations.
  • Support deployment of Quality standards across the Engineering organisation.
  • Capture lessons learned to improve efficiency and product maturity.

Job description

A vacancy has arisen for a Design Quality Engineer to join our client on their Broughton site.
The successful applicant will be working within the Quality Engineering Airframe Wing organisation, primarily in the Programme perimeter for Quality Performance activities covering all programmes, and will report to the Head of Quality Engineering Wing Operations. You will be interfacing with Engineering teams and suppliers around different locations in Europe, America and Asia. The role involves the resolution of quality issues and continuous improvement projects by setting the measurement standards and identifying/facilitating improvements to increase process performance and product adherence to standards, reliability of processes, and repeatability of processes at initial design phase, before any process changes are made and continuously through the life of a product.

Role: Design Quality Engineer
Pay: £34.76 per hour via Umbrella
Contract: 35 hours per week, 12 months contract
Location: Broughton - Fully onsite
IR35: Inside
SC Clearance: BPSS

Responsibilities:
  • Drive and deliver improvement projects in order to support the achievement of the Engineering Wing quality targets (Primary activity of role)
  • Facilitate and support root cause analysis & practical problem solving activities
  • Establish and drive corrective and preventive action plans in order to support the improvement of engineering quality performance and its associated deliverables
  • Identify risks/issues relating to the quality of the engineering deliverable and facilitate, support and drive standardised mitigation plans in order to prevent/mitigate risk linked to the product and its related processes
  • Support the deployment of Quality standards and apply them within the Engineering organisation
  • Capture lessons learned in order to improve organisation efficiency and product maturity
Requirements:
Essential
  • Quality and/or Engineering Experience
  • Project Management knowledge
  • Understanding of Failure modes effects analysis
  • Understanding of root cause analysis techniques (e.g. 9S, 8D etc.)
  • Be able to demonstrate appropriate people skills and associated behaviours when interacting with all levels of the management structure
  • The ability to learn quickly, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude towards the workload
  • Have exceptional communication and English skills, both verbal and written
  • Have excellent IT skills as appropriate to the role (Google Workspace/Microsoft Office)
Desirable
  • Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management and Product Data Management Systems
  • Understanding of Engineering Drawing and Modification management
  • Experience in a Design or Manufacturing Engineering Environment would be beneficial although not essential
  • Ability to communicate in German both verbally and in written form are highly beneficial although not essential
  • Programming experience (Javascript, Google apps script, Python…) are highly beneficial although not essential
