Job summary

BMSL Group Ltd is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead and coordinate design activities for water infrastructure projects across the South West and Southern regions. The role involves close collaboration with pre-construction and delivery teams to develop robust, buildable solutions.

Applicants should have civil engineering design delivery experience, a relevant degree, and strong communication skills, with a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering civil engineering projects from either a design consultancy or contractor background.
• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design and build project delivery.
• Commercial awareness and appreciation of project delivery risks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate design activities from concept to delivery.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs across Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, ICA, Environmental and Planning disciplines.
• Drive the technical delivery of infrastructure projects throughout the design lifecycle.
• Develop innovative, value-driven and buildable engineering solutions.
• Engage with clients, stakeholders, supply chain partners and internal project teams.
• Manage design risk and contribute to successful project outcomes.
• Support feasibility studies, option appraisals and design development activities.
• Ensure designs are delivered in accordance with relevant standards and project requirements.

£65,000 - £80,000 (depending on experience) + Benefits

An established and growing civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Design Manager to support the delivery of major water infrastructure projects across the South West and Southern regions.

Working closely with Pre-Construction and Delivery teams, you will play a key role in developing and delivering multidisciplinary design solutions across a range of infrastructure projects.

The Role

You will lead and coordinate design activities from early concept development through to project delivery, ensuring solutions are technically robust, commercially viable and aligned with client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Pre-Construction teams to lead the design and delivery of water infrastructure projects
• Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs across Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, ICA, Environmental and Planning disciplines

About You

Essential Requirements

• Experience delivering civil engineering projects from either a design consultancy or contractor background

Desirable Experience

• Water and wastewater sector experience
• Experience undertaking feasibility studies, options appraisal and concept design
• Broad understanding of Mechanical, Electrical and Process engineering disciplines
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or working towards professional accreditation
• Temporary works experience
