Job summary

Wates Group is seeking a Design Manager to join our team on forthcoming high-profile, technically complex projects across the Midlands and South Yorkshire. This role suits an experienced Design Manager from a large contractor or an Architect/Engineer transitioning to design consultancy within a supportive team.

You will collaborate with industry specialists and in-house experts to develop designs aligned with the brief, focusing on added value, compliance, and buildability.

Qualifications

• A degree or equivalent experience in a relevant construction discipline.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to produce and manage a realistic design programme and information schedule for design, procurement and construction activities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and innovation.
• Ensure designs are reviewed to achieve compliance and mitigate health and safety, design and buildability risks before construction.
• Identify key risks and opportunities at each stage of the design and delivery process.
