Job summary

Wates Group in the Wales region is seeking a Design Manager to join our team, delivering high-quality new homes for local communities and supporting our purpose of reimagining places for people to thrive.

As a Design Manager, you will work with industry specialists and in-house technical experts to balance quality, compliance, sustainability, commercial viability and best practice throughout the design and delivery process.

Qualifications

• Experience in design management or residential development.
• Strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of buildability, compliance and safety considerations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and manage design programmes and information schedules.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and drive innovation across projects.
• Ensure designs are reviewed to achieve compliance and reduce design/buildability risks before construction.
• Identify and manage risks and opportunities throughout the design and delivery process.
• Promote quality, coordination and buildability from concept through to completion.

About The Role

Our Design Managers are a valuable part of our business, driving quality outcomes, enhancing buildability and fostering innovation. You'll work closely with our industry specialists and in-house technical experts to ensure designs are developed in line with project requirements, balancing quality, compliance, sustainability, commercial viability and best practice.

As a Design Manager, You Will

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and manage realistic design programmes and information requirement schedules that support design, procurement and construction activities.
• Support the delivery of continuous improvement initiatives and drive innovation across projects.
• Ensure designs are thoroughly reviewed and verified to achieve compliance and reduce health and safety, design and buildability risks before construction begins.
• Identify and manage key risks and opportunities throughout each stage of the design and delivery process.
• Promote quality, coordination and buildability from concept through to completion.
