Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection LTD in Bedfordshire is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Design Manager to lead the Drawing Office and a team of five mechanical design engineers. Half time management, half time hands-on design work on packaging machinery.

You'll ensure on-time delivery, develop drawings, BOMs and spares, and coordinate with Electrical, Software and Manufacturing teams to drive turnkey projects.

Qualifications

• Experience as Mechanical Engineering Design Manager or Drawing Office Manager.
• Experience with special purpose machinery and packaging machinery.
• Qualified Mechanical Engineer to at least HNC level.
• Experience with SolidWorks or AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead a team of five Mechanical Design Engineers, spending 50% of time on management and 50% on hands-on design work.
• Ensure delivery KPI targets for new machines, upgrades and spare parts, and produce drawings, BOMs and spare lists.
• Liaise with Electrical, Software & Controls and Manufacturing teams to drive integrated turnkey projects.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Mechanical Engineering Design Manager, Mechanical Design Engineer, Drawing Office Manager - packaging machinery, turnkey capital equipment, industrial equipment

As our Design Manager, you will be managing the companies Mechanical Design Engineering function (Drawing Office) and a team of 5 Mechanical Design Engineers. You will spend 50% of your time managing and leading the team, and 50% as a hands on Design Engineer.

You will be expected to achieve agreed delivery times & KPI`s on new machines, upgrades & spare parts, to create drawings, BOM`s & spares lists and will be expected to liaise effectively with the Electrical Design, Software & Controls and manufacturing teams.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

• You WILL be an experienced Mechanical Engineering Design Manager (or Drawing Office Manager) or will be a very experienced Design Engineer looking to move into a management role.
• You WILL have specific experience of special purpose machinery and ideally of packaging machinery.
• You WILL be a qualified Mechanical Engineer to a minimum of HNC level.
• You WILL have experience of using SolidWorks & or AutoCAD software.
