Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection LTD is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Design Manager to lead the Drawing Office and a team of engineers. The role blends management with hands-on design work on packaging machinery and turnkey equipment.

You will drive delivery KPIs, create drawings, BOMs and spares lists, and coordinate with electrical, software and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Qualifications

• You WILL be an experienced Mechanical Engineering Design Manager (or Drawing Office Manager) or will be a very experienced Design Engineer looking to move into a management role.
• You WILL have specific experience of special purpose machinery and ideally of packaging machinery.
• You WILL be a qualified Mechanical Engineer to a minimum of HNC level.
• You WILL have experience of using SolidWorks & or AutoCAD software.

Responsibilities

• You will be managing the company's Mechanical Design Engineering function (Drawing Office) and a team of 5 Mechanical Design Engineers.
• Spend 50% of your time managing and leading the team, and 50% as a hands on Design Engineer.
• Achieve agreed delivery times & KPIs on new machines, upgrades & spare parts, to create drawings, BOMs & spares lists.
• Liaise effectively with the Electrical Design, Software & Controls and manufacturing teams.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As our Design Manager, you will be managing the companies Mechanical Design Engineering function (Drawing Office) and a team of 5 Mechanical Design Engineers. You will spend 50% of your time managing and leading the team, and 50% as a hands on Design Engineer.
