Job summary

Progress Rail is seeking a Design Engineer in the UK to design, develop, and support precast concrete products, focusing on prestressed bearers and rail infrastructure components. You will provide technical expertise across product development, manufacturing implementation, and continuous improvement to meet standards and customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline.
• Experience in engineering design specifically relating to prestressed concrete bearers.
• Ability to interpret standards, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in CAD and structural analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Produce engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications for precast products.
• Design precast concrete and pre-stressed concrete products.
• Support product development and validation activities.
• Check all nonstandard drawings and ensure they meet concrete standards.
• Capture all data from approved drawings and 1:50 drawings.
• Produce PRS data for all production avenues.
• Raise RFIs to customers when drawing errors are found.
