Job summary

H9 Technical in Stockport seeks a Design Engineer – Mechanical to join a close-knit engineering team. You will design mechanical components and assemblies, turning concepts into robust, cost-effective, production-ready designs for CNC-machined parts, enclosures and precision fittings.

You will work from concept through to manufacture, collaborating with production and suppliers to optimise machining and assembly. A hands-on, detail-oriented communicator is essential to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (or similar).
• Solid experience designing machined components and assemblies.
• Proficient with CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo or similar).
• Strong understanding of materials, tolerancing and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Create and develop mechanical designs and 3D models using CAD software.
• Produce detailed manufacturing drawings, BOMs and documentation.
• Collaborate with production and suppliers to optimise designs for machining and assembly.
• Support prototype builds, testing and product validation.
• Drive continuous improvement of existing designs for performance and cost.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality and procurement.

The Role

You’ll join a close-knit engineering team responsible for designing and developing mechanical components and assemblies – from concept through to manufacture. Working with CNC-machined parts, enclosures and precision fittings, you’ll turn ideas into robust, cost-effective, production-ready designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and develop mechanical designs and 3D models using CAD software
