Job purpose:
- Reporting to the Commercial Manager, as the Design Development Engineer you will be responsible for creating engineering solutions aligned with Eden's manufacturing and outsourced capabilities, incorporating voice of the customer requirements, and demonstrating an understanding of retail and consumer insights through brand representation.
- You will liaise closely with customers and account managers to understand the design brief, manufacturing, and sourcing, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and deadlines.
- Working to tight deadlines, you must demonstrate skills in converting a design brief into engaging and compelling design solutions.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Support the sales team and other departments to meet customers' design development needs.
- Produce innovative, engaging, and functional design solutions that exceed customer expectations.
- Manage the entire project/prototype process, including gaining customer approval and creating prototypes.
- Coordinate with internal teams and customers to ensure prototypes are completed within timelines and specifications.
- Use a design development tracker to manage workload, deadlines, and communication.
- Document and share best practices in design development.
- Travel may be required both nationally and internationally at short notice.
Required Competencies and Experience:
- Proficiency in INVENTOR or similar CAD software, with 3-5 years of experience.
- Experience with mixed material solutions including metal, timber, plastic, glass, and graphics.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality, accurate CAD drawings to communicate design intent.
- Strong planning, organizational, and customer relationship management skills.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Highly organized with strong time management skills.
- Positive, driven, energetic team player with professional ambition.
- Self-starter, independent, and solution-oriented.
- Confident in articulating engineering design ideas.
Location:
Candidates should reside within a commutable distance from either our Wellingborough or Aberdare sites.
