Job summary

18 Week Support is seeking experienced Dermatology Surgical HCAs to support weekend insourcing clinics across dermatology services. You will join teams delivering NHS waiting list initiatives in busy outpatient settings, assisting clinicians and patients throughout their clinic journey.

Ideal candidates have hands-on dermatology theatre experience within the NHS, excellent communication, and a patient-focused approach.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in supporting dermatology theatres within NHS settings.
• Active involvement in dermatology theatre work for at least 6 months in the past year.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; patient-focused and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Pre-operative assessment.
• Prepare for dermatological surgery.
• Intra-operative assistance for dermatology procedures.
• Assist the dermatologist or surgeon during skin biopsies, lesion excisions, curettage and cautery, punch biopsies, and minor skin cancer procedures.
• Maintain aseptic technique and a sterile field, handle instruments and specimens appropriately.
• Monitor patient status and provide reassurance during procedures.
• Specimen management and post-operative care.
• Documentation and clinical governance; ensure effective team working.
