Job summary

Ashmeole Academy in North London is seeking a Deputy SENDCo on a fixed-term maternity cover to lead SEND provision and support students with SEND.

You will work with the Inclusion Team, ensure APDR processes, attend meetings with parents, and develop Intervention registers while maintaining high standards of inclusion.

The role requires QTS and NASENCO, secondary experience, and strong communication; the school values equality and achievement.

Qualifications

This isan exciting opportunity for a teacher and experienced SEND professional who iscommitted to supporting students with Special Educational Needs andDisabilities to achieve excellent outcomes academically, socially andemotionally. Ashmole Academy is a successful and inclusive secondary schoolcommitted to ensuring that every student achieves their full potential. We areseeking an enthusiastic, organised and passionate Deputy SENDCo to join ourdedicated Inclusion Team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract.

Keyresponsibilities include:

• Support the SENDCo inleading and developing SEND provision across the school, in line with theAssess, Plan, Do, Review process (APDR); including interventions,provision maps and having oversight of SEND register, Exam AccessArrangements register and intervention registers
• Assist in identifying,assessing and monitoring students with SEND, including the creating andreview of SEND Support plans including attending meetings withparents/carers
• Work collaboratively withteachers to ensure high-quality teaching and inclusive classroom practice.
• Liaise with externalagencies (e.g. CAMHS) to secure the best outcomes for students usingexisting systems, including making referrals and the completion of screeners(APDR process)
• Contribute to Annual Reviewsby outlining information regarding interventions and provision. Contributeto Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes focusing on thecompletion of needs assessment requests.
• Support staff training anddevelopment relating to SEND and inclusion including upskilling staffwithin the Curriculum Support department and quality assurance.

We arelooking for someone who has:

• Qualified Teacher Status(QTS) and The National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) qualificationor equivalent
• Experience of working withstudents with SEND, preferably in a secondary school setting.
• A strong understanding ofthe SEND Code of Practice and current SEND legislation.
• Excellent communication,organisation and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to buildpositive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
• A commitment to inclusion,equality and raising aspirations for all learners.
