Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Deputy Nursery Manager (Maternity Cover) in Wotton-under-Edge to lead a nursery team and support the Nursery Manager in daily operations.

The role requires Level 3 childcare/EYFS, proven leadership experience, and strong EYFS safeguarding knowledge. You will oversee staff development, planning, and ensuring high standards of care and education for young children in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years (minimum requirement).
• Previous experience in a senior nursery role, such as Room Leader or Deputy Manager.
• Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and safeguarding practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• A proactive, nurturing, and professional approach.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK

Responsibilities

• Support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the nursery.
• Lead, motivate, and develop staff to maintain high standards of care and education.
• Ensure the nursery operates in line with EYFS requirements and nursery policies.
• Promote a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment for all children.
• Build strong relationships with children, parents, carers, and external professionals.
• Support staff with observations, assessments, and planning.
• Take responsibility for the nursery in the Manager's absence.
• Ensure safeguarding and health & safety procedures are adhered to at all times
