Rotherwood is seeking a Deputy Manager to join a residential care home in Suffolk, based in Lowestoft. This permanent, full-time role focuses on supporting the Home Manager, leading the care team and maintaining high standards of person-centred care.

Reporting to the Home Manager, you will oversee day-to-day operations, ensure safeguarding and regulatory compliance, and promote residents’ independence and well-being while fostering strong relationships with families and health professionals.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support the Home Manager with day-to-day running of the care home.
  • Lead, supervise and support care assistants, nurses and support staff.
  • Act as senior point of contact in the Home Manager's absence.
  • Ensure high-quality, person-centred care per individual care plans.
  • Monitor residents' wellbeing and review/update care plans.
  • Promote residents' independence, choices and dignity.
  • Provide supervision, coaching and staff development.
  • Identify training needs and maintain high standards of practice.
  • Ensure safeguarding, incident reporting and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain records across care, training and regulatory areas.
  • Support social activities and community connections.

Deputy Manager - Care Home

Location: Lowestoft, Suffolk

Salary: £52,500 per annum

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

Are you an experienced Deputy Manager looking for your next opportunity within a supportive and well-established care environment?

We are currently recruiting for a Deputy Manager to join the management team of a residential care home in Suffolk. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced care professional who is confident leading a team, supporting day-to-day operations and ensuring consistently high standards of person-centred care.

The Role

Working closely with the Home Manager, you will play a key role in the smooth running of the home, supporting staff and ensuring the health, wellbeing, dignity and individual needs of residents remain at the heart of everything the team does.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Home Manager with the day-to-day running of the care home.
  • Leading, supervising and supporting care assistants, nurses and support staff.
  • Acting as the senior point of contact and taking responsibility for delegated duties in the Home Manager's absence.
  • Ensuring residents receive high-quality, person-centred care in line with individual care plans.
  • Monitoring residents' wellbeing and ensuring care plans are reviewed and updated where required.
  • Promoting residents' choices, preferences, independence and dignity.
  • Providing supervision, coaching, mentoring and support to staff.
  • Identifying training and development needs and supporting staff to maintain high standards of practice.
  • Ensuring safeguarding concerns and incidents are identified, recorded and reported appropriately.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with residents, families, healthcare professionals and external agencies.
  • Ensuring compliance with CQC standards, health and safety, infection control and safeguarding requirements.
  • Supporting the safe management and administration of medication.
  • Ensuring accurate records are maintained across care, training and regulatory requirements.
  • Promoting a positive, respectful and supportive environment for both residents and staff.
  • Supporting residents to participate in social activities and remain connected with their local community.
About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience working as a Deputy Manager within a care home setting.
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills.
  • A good understanding of CQC regulations and standards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of adult safeguarding and appropriate referral procedures.
  • A genuine commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, staff and external professionals.
  • Experience supporting and developing care teams.
  • The confidence to take responsibility and make decisions in the absence of the Home Manager.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
