Job summary

Novus, a prison education provider, is seeking a Deputy Local Education Manager to work with the Local Education Manager at HMP Manchester. The role is permanent, full-time, 37 hours per week, to lead educational delivery and shape our site’s teaching strategy.

You will develop and empower teaching teams, ensure high-quality education, manage partnerships, and drive continuous improvement while upholding safeguarding and Ofsted expectations.

Qualifications

  • Teaching qualification – Cert Ed or PGCE.
  • Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Manchester,working as a Deputy Local Education Manager. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Site Information

HMP Manchester is a Category A and B men's prison in Manchester, England. Established in 1868 and designed by Alfred Waterhouse, it is known for its iconic ventilation tower and long-standing role as a high-security facility. HMP Manchester serves as a local prison for remanded prisoners awaiting trial and sentencing, as well as those serving long-term sentences and is committed to rehabilitation, offering educational programs, vocational training, and support services aimed at reducing reoffending.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
  • Teaching qualification - minimum Cert Ed or PGCE
  • Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
